Containers
Container is equipment used to transport cargo.
A content or container is a large metal or wooden box, usually of large dimensions, for the storage and transportation of cargo on ships, trains, etc. It is also known as a cargo safe, as it is equipped with security devices provided by national laws and international conventions. Its main characteristic is nowadays to constitute an independent load unit, with standard dimensions in English measures (feet). A base unit generally considered is the TEU (in English: unit equivalent to twenty feet).
Types of containers
Standard 20 container
Equipment used for “dry” general cargo.
Ex: Bags, boxes, pallets, drums, etc.
Standard 40 container
Like the standard 20 container, the equipment is used for general cargo.
Ex: Bags, boxes, pallets, drums, etc.
40 High Cube Container
Like previous equipment, this container is used for shipping dry cargo.
Ex: Bags, boxes, pallets, drums, etc.
Flat Rack 20
Equipment designed to transport large and extra-heavy loads.
Ex: Machines, vehicles, etc.
Flat Rack 40
Equipment designed to transport large and extra-heavy loads.
Ex: Machines, vehicles, etc.
Open Top 20
This type of equipment is indicated for loads that cannot be loaded through the container doors due to the dimensions.
Ex: Larger loads, such as machines, stones, building materials, glass or even parts for the most varied types of products.
Open Top 40
This type of equipment is indicated for loads that cannot be loaded through the container doors due to the dimensions.
Ex: Larger loads, such as machines, stones, building materials, glass or even parts for the most varied types of products.
Refrigerated 20
Equipment for generating cold. Intended for the transportation of cargo that requires constant temperatures below zero or controlled temperatures.
Ex: Meat, fruit, fish, cheese, etc.
Refrigerated 40
Equipment for generating cold. Intended for the transportation of cargo that requires constant temperatures below zero or controlled temperatures.
Ex: Meat, fruit, fish, cheese, etc.
Ventilated
Container for cargo that needs to “breathe”. But this does not necessarily mean that they are live charges.
Ex: Cocoa, coffee, onion, seeds, etc.
Platform 20
Ideal equipment for transporting loads of irregular sizes and various forms such as agricultural machinery, air conditioning devices, boats, construction material, generators, logs, paper spools, tubes, rebars, tanks, plates, trucks, vehicles, plates plywood, etc.
Platform 40
Ideal equipment for transporting loads of irregular sizes and various forms such as agricultural machinery, air conditioning devices, boats, construction material, generators, logs, paper spools, tubes, rebars, tanks, plates, trucks, vehicles, plates plywood, etc.
Bulk Container
Specially coated equipment, allows the transport of grains.
Ex: Malt, seeds and etc.
Tank Container
Coated equipment for the transport of corrosive chemicals or liquid loads, such as acids and alcoholic beverages.
